DIY Batmobile Runs Using Turbine Power and an iPad
If you ever wanted a car to show off--one complete with all the best gadgets--then Casey Putsch of auto restoration company Putsch Racing may just have created it. Behold: the turbine-poweredBatmobile, complete with an iPad.
Putsch built the car over five months, using surplus military components and old car parts, and it's based on the version of the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie directed by Tim Burton. It is powered by a military-specified Boeing turbine engine which was originally used on a Navy drone aircraft that dropped torpedos on enemies. The engine powers the rear wheels via a semi-automatic transmission--this makes it drive a little more like a normal car. The Batmobile has a 385-horsepower engine, is 20 feet long, and weighs around 2,800 pounds. The iPad is used for GPS navigation as well as Casey's avionics system.
So far the Batmobile has won nuermours awards, and, according to Putsch Racing, "the car’s engineering and construction is fully racing derived and can be considered the most extreme exotic car on the planet."
Not only is this car Batman-themed, but it's also made using awesome recycled parts, an iPad and is considered somewhat of a supercar. It can also be topped up with either jet fuel, kerosene or diesel--plenty of variety if you need to pull up for gas then!
